Santana Sizzles in City of Brotherly Shove
Friday, April 18th, 2008Mets 6 - Phillies 4
Johan Santana struck out 2 batters in each of the first 4 innings on his way to pitching a masterpiece in Philly (7-IP, 4-H, 10- K’s). David Wright tore the cover off the ball collecting an RBI double in the 1st, RBI triple in the 3rd, a lead-off single in the 6th, and a double in the 8th giving the Mets 2nd & 3rd with 0-out in a 2-1 ballgame. Davids 4th hit opened up the floodgates as Beltran followed Wright, and was handed an intentional BB, eventually coming around to score the 5th Met run.
megamets notes:
1) Carlos D. came up clutch in the 8th with a big RBI ground-out and another huge RBI in the 9th. In both cases giving the Mets a 2-run lead.
2) Pagan flashed some leather and came up big at the plate.
3) Ryan Church and Brian Schneider continue to impress as the duo rack up 6-hits on the night.
